The Hopeful Watcher
Taken in Fountain Colorado 29 February 2008
Canon 1D Mark III, EF 300mm 1:2.8 L IS USM with Extender 2x II f/8, 1/2500 ISO 800
A clear sunny day.
I was out trying to get a shot of some of the local birds when I saw this guy stalking me. I’m pretty sure that he was hoping that I was going to sit down and share my lunch with him.

I've tried to get picture of those guys too:) not the easiest motive, I guess that a good tele lens makes it a bit easier:) I like the shot:D he looks really cute and curious

Thank you
A good telephoto is always helpful but in this case the squirrels are used to being fed so any lens would do. Of course you have to consider that a cute squirrel does have a rather nasty bite if he thinks that he is threatened. That said squirrels in some parks will do anything for a handful of peanuts.

I hope you did give the poor guy something to eat, or else got a model release form signed :-)

Great job! I have often tried to capture a squirrel but they move so quickly that I have found it challenging. Really clear and well processed!

Thank you
If they think that you will feed them it's much easier.
