can you tell me the difference between metering modes? in this one you used "pattern" -- I know there are a couple of other modes. I want to know what they mean.

In this case the metering mode is irrelevant because I just left the shutter open for three long exposures. The camera just happened to be in that mode so I put it in the data. This camera calls evaluative metering “;pattern’ in the Meta Data. All that it means is that it’s supposed to have a look at the overall scene and automatically determine the light. On my camera I have three other choices all using varying amounts of the center to determine the light setting for the shot.
